Beta
I had a lot of fun with this project.
I MILLE runs an internal training program for employees, and every year a pair of branding designers is chosen to create that year’s identity.
The name Beta comes from the idea that if we settle on thinking we already know everything, there’s no room left to learn anything new. That’s why the project comes with total freedom — to create something different, without the fear of getting it wrong.
Together with my colleague, we decided to explore the imperfection of analog textures, brought onto paper through something as fluid and unpredictable as water. We created enamel films on a liquid surface, then pressed them onto sheets of paper.
Digitized, wrapped up, and here’s a little video recap of what we made. It still cracks me up how it starts super lame with a whistled tune and an ukulele, and then turns into a completely different mood with a breakcore beat.
